The Vermont Children’s Trust Foundation presents RESILIENCE, an award-winning documentary by James Redford that explores the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and a new movement to treat and prevent toxic stress.

Resilience is the ability to thrive, adapt and cope in stressful environments. Resilience is a natural counter-weight to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). The more resilient a child is, the more likely they are to deal with negative situations in a healthy way. Resilience is not an innate characteristic, it is a skill that can be taught, learned and practiced when individuals are provided access to healthy environments and supportive people.

The film Resilience contains a wealth of information about how developing brains respond to stress, and offers practical steps everyone can take to promote resilience in children.  For more information about the film click here.

VCTF is presenting this film for free as a service to the community and in honor of its grantees who provide programs that help ensure the well-being and resilience of Vermont children.
