Equipment grant for preschool materials

Assistance to help the parent child center to spend the time in order to become NAEYC accreditated and become a STAR recognized center through the State of Vermont.

To plan and pilot a program providing education to parents designed to increase their children's social and emotional development and exposure to early language and literacy in order to improve school readiness in their communities.

Robin's Nest Children's Center is a high-quality, non-profit, early education program in the Old North End (ONE) of Burlington. Established in 1985, the Center has demonstrated a commitment to equity and diversity by routinely enrolling families from the refugee and new American population. We plan to improve our program's ability to serve New American families; families who face complex societal and economic challenges with a direct impact on youth. Specifically, we seek to improve social connection, offer interpreters where language barriers exist and support parental resilience. We'd also like to build the cultural competency skills of our staff to promote connection and offer strengths-based guidance.

Specialized Child Care supports children in child care with physical or developmental needs, including children up to age 13 in state custody, and children and families experiencing significant short term stress. Supports include child care financial assistance, transportation coordination and securing placement in an appropriate early care program. In addition, CCR staff provide supports and consultation to early childhood educators to help develop teaching strategies, classroom set-up, program culture, and behavior mitigation to prevent expulsion from care. We embody the data which supports the value of safe, healthy and quality early care in preparing children to thrive in school and life.

Expand existing preschool to a full-time, full day program. They will open from 7:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m. five days a week in response to identified community need.

The STARS Support Project aims to create an integrated support system for early care and education programs in their service region who are currently participating in the STARS accreditation process or who seek to participate.
